hey richard,

on an existing site, add the site to whatever web folder, ie:-

/home/USER/public_html/somesite.com/public/oscommerceThing

then on you browser goto:-

somesite.com/oscommerceThing

or for a new site, set up a new site as shown in the docs (there's a handy cheatsheet in the admin section of the bible)

.. you'll set up the required virtual host file with that, whcih will included that "location" block you mention ..

set up your dns

then just head to somecommercesite.com and do the install

.. you'll probably need to set up a db too, huh .. there's another doc about that in the admin section.

Hi Olly

Ive been reading some more stuff on the internet, some support forums are stating that i need to add these lines:

location / {
index index.php;
root /path/to/dir
###############

The web page it came from is as follows:

http://forums.oscommerce.com/topic/351247-nginx-rewrites/page__p__1470380__hl__nginx__fromsearch__1&#entry1470380

I'm currently running loads of sites succesfully and I don't want to start playing with the config files and take those down.

Cheers for the help

Rich

Hi Olly

I'm trying to install os commerce onto a site I wish to use, the info i have received from os commerce tells me to upload the folder required into my public folder, then to install by accesing the site. When I go to the domain i get the nginx error message 502 bad gateway.

I was wondering if you know what files i need to edit to allow me to access this. what I've been told to access is:

mydomain.com/catalog/install/index.php

I really appreciate any help with this. Cheers Rich
