The integration of bbPress is looking more likely, I suspect, once the WP/WP mU merger in 3 is done. Given that BuddyPress is now available for both WP editions and that it relies heavily for forums on bbPress.

Just wish they'd hurry!! :-)

smf is pretty much dead in the water now. development for it has stopped.
vbulleton or phpbb would be nice but does that would require some sort of bridge to link it to wordpress i think?

bridges are slow and bad for server performance...at least in my experience.

aya tamerax .. i agree with your points.

just wanna knock out a few weeks worth of vps content, then i'll revisit this forum and consider things such as this.

.. for sure there's a lot of room for improvement, totally agree.

better layout, IMO. full width rather than these small boxes. As you can see in some of the other forums, when code is posted, it breaks out of the box into the sidebar which makes it hard to read.

i liked being able to subscribe to forum updates via email because I don't use RSS generally speaking.

I do like that replies are at the bottom and not the top though. ;)

eitherway, i'll live :P

tamerax, why?

(you can't just give a sweeping statement without throwing in some variables, old boy!)

i like it when folks aren't sure what platform i'm running :)

this is bbPress with deep integration and a custom theme.

it's harder to set up but easier to use than SimplePress, which I had before.

the main reason i swapped was because SP is much harder to rip into the code and personalize.

BBP can have a bunch of plugins strapped on, adn I'll be doing that to add functionality.

if you can wait, BBP is now being developed as a WordPress plugin, like SP (teh best feature of SP) .. currently its installation can be a little awkward if you want to share user details and login/out between WP and BBP .. whereas SP's install is a breeze.

i'll be writing a tut about BBP integration for Nginx, cos that needs a special rewrites ruleset in teh virtual host too.

(this textarea is too small .. better sort that!)

Just wondering what system you are using now and is it still wordpress based?

I'm thinking of adding a small forum system to one of my wordpress sites so I would love here some recommendations.
