I just learned that if you are seeing that issue with phpmyadmin as well, then it's likely a problem with your server, not Drupal. running Apache 2.x

hey Gary .. ditto Drupal with Apache .. sorry, I've not tried it.
It's likely a problem with your rewrite rule.
I've written this for phpmyadmin with Nginx:-

Ditto your Drupal problem .. by all means, please even! .. leave a request and I daresay you won't be the only one wanting that tutorial.
