Debian LEMP Install Memory Issue
-
I have done the stacks multiple times now and I am pretty sure I have installed it perfectly this time. This is what I am running.
VPS.NET Debian 5 x64 752mb 1.2ghz
Ran your LEMP Stack
Ran your single wordpress site stack
Upgraded to wordpress 3.0.1
Installed buddypress
Installed a few plugins (4)After a reset my system starts up and the website is flying!!! I mean flying!!!
Memory usage starts out low (see below)total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 752 135 616 0 3 49
-/+ buffers/cache: 82 669
Swap: 1023 0 1023After a few page loads
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 752 742 9 0 0 20
-/+ buffers/cache: 721 30
Swap: 1023 12 1011After some plugin changes it slowly gets worse to the point that it times out. (sometimes)
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 752 743 8 0 0 10
-/+ buffers/cache: 732 19
Swap: 1023 128 895You get the point....
Is this normall? Did I do something wrong? Is the server not working properly or maybe I have some programs running that don't need to? If it is an education issue on my part please give me a reference to read that may help.
Thanks

@travis womble
I noticed the exact same issue when installing debian 5 lemp on vps.net the only difference being I used 1 node.
To say the least the debian 5 started off flying as you say and after a number of page loads ect came to a complete standstill.
I know it's not the server, so it is some configuration / a leek somewhere???
Hoping the Guv can answer this as I would love to use debian, but currently have ubuntu installed - which works well (memory stable).

does look pretty standard. that's not to say it couldn't be improved upon but, with Nginx AFAIK, rather than leave free memory it will spread out for efficiency, giving way to new processes
