How to tackle and control high bandwith usage?
-
Hi Guv I am using linode 360 plan. I am presently running four wordpress blog on this account. Total monthly traffic is not more than 15000. My linode account still showing more than 100GB total data transfer with 15 days of the month usage. Out of that 100GB almost 90GB is incoming and less than 10GB outgoing data. I feel something wrong going on with my sites. Will you kindly help me to take a control over the high incoming data usage?
Thanks.Posted 1 year ago # -
hey...getreal, what kind of traffic/ blog do you have? are you allowing people to upload pics and video? and if so, do you have any size restrictions on their uploads? seems like a disproportionate amount of inbound, but certainly feasible.

Hi Uraxs, I am running simple wordpress blog and no upload of video or pics. I of course get lot of spam comments on each of my blog and some auto blogging scripts make 100 of post every day on my blog. Is it the reason for that high incoming bandwith volume?

No, text is not that heavy even if there are 100 entries. I'm beginning to think there's something else happening on your server that you're not aware of perhaps. Can you look at traffic stats and server logs to get more info or clues?
