Is it possible that I may test on VMWare

I was wondering if I may do so!

Too right! Nice idea :)
or VirtualBox, that's what I use, Abdul ... works a treat.
Have it clone your VPS-proper, the production server, running the virtual DNS so you can SSH into the local virtual machine from your local OS, so you can not only mimic the file structure but also to test and play with, for example, security measures ... adding, say, intrusion systems like Snort (NIDS) and OSSEC (HIDS). (I'll be writing about this lot soon enough.)
And of course you mirror your sites to develop them locally before sending changes to the production server, the VPS.
Too right.

Which version of VMWare server you strongly recommending ?
1.x or 2.x?Posted 2 months ago # -
no idea to be honest ... not using VMWare ... probably the latest but I'd check their docs.

that's very nice, Joe, especially for a quick throwaway box. thank you.
The thing, locally in "development", is to have a box that clones your remote "production" server as much as is feasibly possible.
... Having installed a local virtual machine's OS, I just run one of this site's stackscripts, locally, to build what I have remotely. (The stack builds mimic the manual guides almost precisely.) Then I build on that, say deploying sites or playing with server configs.
A local dev box is so important. You can save the thing, then try to hack it (from another local virtual machine sporting, say, BackTrack) or somehow ruin it ... then simply revert back to the save. All that without touching the production box ... fantastic.
... As such, the local box is where you can play with new site deployment, with new candidate packages such as a control panel, with advanced security strategies such as HIDS (say, OSSEC to manage your logs) and NIDS (say, Snort to stave off network attacks), for deploying advanced kernels with stuff like Grsecurity, etc, etc, etc. That's just a taster, the list of benefits is endless.
