Hello Olly. I am not sure this is right category to make a post, but this is the only area I can post a topic message without replying to a prior thread. Like you said this is a beta work in progress and I am total noob here, but I am trying to figure out how to see the code and some videos on how to set up a VPS. I have a blog that I have developed in Wordpress in a child theme from Thematic and I would like to migrate that from my test site (which does use apache) to the VPS you have suggested at Linode to go live. I initially came across this from youtube video and then I decided to make the plunge (after checking out this initial series from you website guvnr.com and after the final plunge I guess I was just "scared" because I was a total newbie but I want to do this and I want to support all the hard work you have done for people like me. I can email you my paypal receipt number to prove my subscription and if so perhaps you can send me zipped file of the text files? or a pdf of the 20 steps since I can't see the code. Thanks for your help in advance.

.. sorry, installed a dodgy plugin and it screwed the membership .. try again you should be OK.

really? despite your lack of manners I looked into this both here and at paypal and see no gools subbed up.

frankly this is a friendly forum so I'd rather prefer if you didn't bother either.

Hi there - I'm having the same issue: I had already signed up to the forum before taking the plunge and paying a sub.

Am I supposed to automatically be able to see the content or is there something I have to do to make this happen? BTW I've sent an email via paypal to confirm my payment.

BTW if I try to click on the vps bible Contact link I get:

Home > Error: Are You Signed Up?

Oh dear! similar situation to me, I suscribed and cannot see the content! and contact form give me an error message :(

I sent an e-mail via paypal but I don't know if the right way... sorry!

aya famfam .. have had a problem with the membership plugin not working over the last couple days .. am currently trying to sort that but in the meantime I've set you .. and other .. memberships manually for yesterday/today.

Sorry y'all .. membership is 99% instant but ..

.. this does seem to happen from time to time with my system and I try to be on the case to get you your access asap (generally within a day).

I've got the same problem as famfam up above. Contact form gives error message so I have to clutter up this forum <g>.
Likewise, I'd joined the forums first and then subscribed (different user names and email -- system forced me to)

Hello,

I seem to be also having an issue. I had a gateway error after i purchased via paypal. On the create username and password section. I clicked the back button and tried again, which worked

Okay, thanks for the earlier email where you sorted out my username & password problem.

Well later on today I tried to login using the username and password that you had sent to me. and ..oh boy...it didn't work. After logging in, I still see myself as Guest on the homepage. And the codes are still locked and hidden by the PayPal Subscribe button.

Funny thing is that when I surf over to the forum section, the system recognises me as frankiekam. Rightly so, for the VPS Bible 22 step-thingy, I'm still a plain old guest with no access rights.

Sorry to pull you away from your fav pub hangout, but I hope you can sort this one out....so that I can continue with the 22-step recovery....er...22 steps to go from VPS negative 100 to VPS Super Duper Hero.

Er...actually instead of seeing me as
Boon Seng Kam @vpsBible (the paid subscriber) the system on the home and in the all important tutorials see me as
Guest@vpsBible.

Looks like the Membership/login plugin's acting up again, eh, Guv'?

this is a cookie issue. it actually stems from bbPress, bless, not sitting happily with WP .. Currently I'm investigating alternative forum solutions to tackle this .. it looks like I'll be swapping bbP for the Mingle Forums plugin which, have to say, looks very sweet.

In the meantime, for anyone with this problem, here's the deal:-

- if you're logged in (and in this case maybe the issue is a particular guide not showing up properly) .. log out
- close any vpsB browser tabs
- bin any cookies for "vpsbible"
- clear your browser cache
- surf back over, log in and enjoy.

Fortunately this is a rare issue these days but, as I say, roll on Mingle .. then you'll be able to tweak your profiles too.
