Permission denied!

MemberHey,
When I run Nginx and php-fpm as www-data, I have to make www-data the owner of the folders where my websites lie. But, I have to upload files and stuff with FileZilla and I get permission denied error whenever I try to write. So, I add my username to group "webmasters" and I can write. However, if I try to delete something, I get the "permission denied" message again.
Is there a way I get get around this because it's really a pain in the ass!?
