Permission denied (publickey).

So I followed the User setup and firewall parts. I logged out as root and tried to log back in as the new user but i get this message:
Permission denied (publickey).
Any suggestions

same problem here.. I have been back over and over the "putty" tutorial and the "harden the secure shell with ssh & create a firewall" tutorial and I cannot get past this error. I've went back to the very beginning twice and wiped my box clean once and still cannot get past it..
Could it be windows 7?
Could it be a firewall I have configured locally?
Could it be the port 4420 I was substituting for 22?
Could it be I am using a 64 bit distribution of Ubuntu 8.04?
What the #$(* could it be? It's driving me mad because I know if I lose my connection or logout of the console I cannot get back in and I want to go to bed damnit!

Permission denied (publickey) means (to me) that I cannot access my server because my keypair is active and password authentication is disabled (set at 'no'), and i am accessing from the wrong PC.
You won't like this suggestion, but dual boot your PC to Ubuntu or Mint, and access your server through Ubuntu or Mint terminal.Way easier in my view than putty on windows. (yes its a pain boom boom)
