Potential Site/Forum Bugs & Suggestion
-
Hi Olly,
Some (Possible) Site Bugs:
Just a few things I noticed which may or may not be bugs that may be related to cookies and/or specific browser issues (I'm guessing based on the behavior):
* Sometimes, when I try to login, either via the DHTML Login box at the top-right or /wp-login.php, it still says "Login" and just below shows "guest@vpsBible~@". I'm also not logged in, because I can't see code and can't post to the forums.
* Sometimes when I logout, it still looks like I'm logged in - link at the top right says "Logout" and just below that shows "<USERNAME>@vpsBible~@"Suggestions
* I searched high and low for the profile edit page, until I accidentally ran across it by clicking my username in the forums. What little I know about usability says this is should be nice and prominent somewhere on every page. Also, my Web-trained brain keeps wanting to click where it says "<USERNAME>@vpsBible~@" to get to my user profile, but alas, I only get a tag cloud! ;-)
That's my $0.02 for today. Hopefully these comments (or their results) may be useful to the whole clan here as well.
Cheers,_Khalid

hey GFG, aye, this has been a pain, the membership/WP/bbpress/cookie interaction on this site. reminds me of a dysfunctional family at christmas.
anyway, yesterday I overhauled the guts of vpsBible .. removed a conflicting plugin, upgrading others and tweaking here and there. I guess in a week or so, depending on my inbox, I'll know if that was as good an improvement as tested positive for me at least.
otherwise, user profile pages .. yes, I know! this forum needs to go full screen too, the sidebar's pretty pointless here.

Very cool. I'll keep an eye out to see if the login issue is still occurring.
PS> Love the 'dysfunctional family at christmas' analogy!

It'd be great if the login cookie didn't expire so soon (or ever).

@Nicholas .. hmmn, I keep my caching turned off and to be honest cookies are beyond the scope of my brain .. but that checkbox to stay logged in, that isn't working for you?
