Putty Fatal error- connection reset by Peer
-
Hi folks! Ok just deployed another distro to play with stackscripts but i am very 'noobishly' stack getting to the new distro root with putty already installed on the local machine. I keep getting this 'Putty Fatal error- connection reset by peer' thingie. Can quite work out how to set up a new connection to a different distro on the VPS and IP.
Please rescue this noob.
Cheers

Benja- do you have ssh installed with the VM ware that runs your VPS? if so, Putty should connect to any IP's in your assigned block. Other than that you'd have to install that capability on each virtual host I believe. Are you using a control panel of sorts?

@Uraxs, thanks! I am on a Linode and i have to admit i am not sure where and how that ssh gets to the Linode VPS.
Also i am currently working with one IP address, i wonder whether that is an issue.
The only control panel is that at the linode otherwise i only access the server locally via CLI (via putty).
I am supposing others here could be running 2 distros on the same VPS and acessing CLI via Putty. How are you doing that folks?

hey Benja .. I was gonna be publishing a script without the auth keys bit in it this week .. and that would help you (then you could set up keys manually after) .. as it turns out I've had quite a bit come up and can't post this week
.. but it will be out next Tuesday so if you can wait for that you'll be sorted.
Or .. scrutinise the regular authentication key guides to set up in the regular way.

er .. hold on, there's an easy way for you to do this anyhow ..
copy the key from distro 1, using that for the authentication key variable for the new setup.
then you'll have to edit your local hosts file as it says in the tut.
.. thassit :) .. you share the key between the two.
otherwise, 1 ip is fine
ps .. this is what i do on my test Linode .. currently running 4 variants for different scenarios, all using the same key/ip.
