Client Site Down - Ran Single Site WP Script - 500 Error
-
Ran the script on one of my nodes at Linode. added a new wp site and now 3 out of the 12 sites are getting 500 errors. The new site works.
HELP!

So weird that I can run the same WP Script unchanged except for the variables of course and it will mess up other previously deployed sites.
My only fix was to restore with backupbuddy plugin and/or restore the latest snapshot.
Why is this happening? I'm seriously thinking of returning to a managed solution again by Rackspace. :/

Anthony, this just never happens to me, and I'm deploying the script multiple times per week.
In fact, it's impossible that A can effect B.
You sure you change all the variables?

Yep. I double checked the script.

In that case this sounds like something to do with your VPS provider, or rather with the Linux image they provide/customize. Scripts can behave differently, depending on what is and is not installed by default.
... In the new site, which I'm building now, I'll be testing all scripts with multiple providers to combat this. No good for you today though :(
The best advice I can give you is to use the manual guides (which for adding sites is quick anyhow) on your live server and play with the scripts on a test VPS, else on a virtualbox.
"Manual" may sound like a pain but, really really, it is the best way to understand the server and, most importantly, to gain some initial understanding of the security issues.

your a WP man, no?
this may help ;)

one thing .. if these sites are all one the one VPS for the one client, why-oh-why don't you go the Multisites route?
... far less maintenance for the client.

Read all that. :)
This is for my shared VPS with multiple clients. I'd prefer to keep the wp instances separate as there are a few wp developers who like to tinker.
