you're right Barnaby .. was a silly question, LOL
you've got to have your registered domain resolve to some IP before the DNS records (A,AAAA,MX,CNAME/alias etc) on that IP will take effect.
.. trickledown.
(it wasn't really a silly question, BTW :P )
