syntax errors with LEMP Stackscript
-
I've got to be missing something obvious. Got my Linode 10.04 VPS, talking to it with Putty but I've never been able to successfully run the script. Cut & pasted Guv's latest into Notepad++ from VPSBible "view source" and edit my variables. Log in, use nano, create script file all per Guv. When I run ./script I get, "Line 96: syntax error near unexpected token ‘(‘, etc. If I delete the offending line, I'll get the same syntax error message on some other line.
I'm feeling stupid and running up my bar tab! Seems like everyone else has run the script so please tell me where I'm going wrong.
Thanks all!

hey Lee, sounds like Notepad++ is converting the inverted comma from ' to `. (I'm not sure the difference will show here, but quite likely you've come across this before so hopefully you know what I mean.)
Try copy/replacing all inverted comas to the standard symbol and Linux should then parse the script properly.

Thanks Guv! I'm not going to admit that I ran into this a couple of years ago and should have remembered. Can't be my old, high-mileage brain. So, I'll blame all the colonial pints my mates have forced me to empty. Got to get to London!
Stay tuned for the next stupid question. You need to add that, "Buy the Guv a pint" button!
