Have something particularly in mind? Maybe a platform-specific guide, some security topic, those dreaded rewrites or concerning some Linux server distribution, caching alternative or web server?

Here´s the place to make a request.

Also here are the topics I have in the works and the more general subjects I am looking to develop throughout 2010.

( ______ Actually, I´m at a foreign machine at the moment .. so will fill this bit out on Monday ______ )

Well, since many of use host couple domains on a vps, and we have couple users accessing sftp and ssh, it would be nice to have more powerful restrictions and permissions for certain users, so that they won't be able to view/access other users files.

I was able to get a working chrooted sftp access for users, but the ssh access is still full.

So a tut about restricted or chrooted ssh shell/sftp access would be nice :)

    Hi Adrian,

Totally agree, this is highly important.

I have a series planned on various aspects of permissions, including this one.

I've also added a widget on the homepage with the next few upcoming tuts listed.

I'd be interested to know a bit more about PHP-FPM as it seems to be the wrapper of choice for a lot of folks out there

It'd be nice if you explained how nginx's native caching system works and how to properly set it up.

"I'm just looking forward to the WPMU/Buddypress tutorial. :)"

.. OK, that's live. Well, the BuddyPress bit is just basically a strap-on plugin adn I didn't include it, but I'll add that in a couple of days cos the WP-MU tut was getting a bit on the long side.

Otherwise, tx folks, the list grows! Think I'm gonna have to implement a voting system to this forum huh?

.. will knock out a few more posts first though.

"PHP-FPM" .. "Nginx caching" .. duly noted. Also, some nginx.conf explanation wouldn't go amiss.

(PHP-FPM had been left unmaintained for a while, so I neglected it, but its being maintained well now.)

I think it would be good to cover how people who followed your original Nginx tutorial can upgrade their Nginx version to the latest one as the one I used seems to have a few issue here and there.

I have a request to add a module to the last part of your tutorial:
"Moving Day! How to Move Your Blog or Site"

You should add a module like:
Copying the wordpress blog using shell:
A tutorial for those who are moving from the managed VPS or dedicated server to an unmanaged VPS.

A command by command help to zip files and move and also including the database moving help. The fastest way to make it possible for large wordpress sites.

Would like to add that I really liked the tutorial and it was damn easy and fun too. Got everything working fine. Thanks :)

    First, Guv - You're AWESOME.

Second, a request. I would love a tut on how to manage and setup (using subversion or git )a production and development version of the same wordpress site.

    Also, an ROR tut :)?

    Hey guv,

Can you create a Centos 5.5 VPS setup tutorial? I tried to use Ubuntu 10.04 and Debian 5 but they were a pain in the ass because of their stupid permissions. It just doesn't work well with Wordpress.

I had a VPS on hostgator a while back and it was running Centos-the server was awesome (it was managed though) but then I switched to an unmanaged VPS on Gandi. I'd to see a tutorial for Centos because IMO it's the best distro for servers ever.

    Thanks,
    Josh

Gov you might add a quick tut on how to modify configs to serve multiple IP's on one VPS.

Maybe just show some sample configs then link to them from the logical places around your bible.

    Hey guv,

Great site and very useful. I was wondering if you can put a tutorial up to get a Zope \ Plone 4 \ nginx setup going for us non-propeller heads?

Maintenance tuts are a winner. Backups etc will be nice additions. Also a tut on error pages 500′s, 404′s etc.

    Guv

    In http://vpsbible.com/content-management/nginx-platform-integration/
I was kinda disappointed that you didn't include the leading CMS - Moodle!
Current version as of Jan'2011 is Moodle 2.0.1 (http://download.moodle.org/)

    Anyway, maybe next time.

I wouldn't mind seeing a proper/quick Nginx-based guide on how to plug into mysql from a non-command line.

Though phpmyadmin is available, I was more so curious on how to securely connect from programs such as HeidiSQL, via an SSH-tunnel or otherwise, without much of a headache.
