Two Dedicated VPSs (one webserver and one database server)?

MemberAny thoughts/comments on a tutorial to set up WP (or any other CMS) using two VPSs (one as webserver and the other as database server)?
I'm probably trying to optimize way too early, but I was thinking that since Linode's start at only $20/month it might be worth the effort to set this up in preparation of my site's (hopeful) hockey stick shaped growth.
Or is this idea ridiculous and I should just stick to one VPS and upgrade its size as my traffic grows?

Upgrade as and when Jonathan and, meantime, send me the di$$erence!
Really, expansion down the road will not be difficult .. and it'll give me a new direction to tut up about :P
