Ubuntu 10.04: downgrade php 5.3 to 5.2

MemberI have just set up my linode vps via vpsbible (impossible without for me). Everything is great, transfered Wordpress site/database and all is OK. However, I have an ESSENTIAL plugin that will not work with PHP5.3 (at least not now). How can I downgrade to PHP5.2? I have tried the following and no luck.
Before I keep messing around and trying more and more...is there any method someone from vpsbible has tried that worked?
