XCache settings not sticking...
-
Hi all
Top tutorial / guides Guvnr!
Just a quick question...
In your Xcache settings area within this page: http://vpsbible.com/php/speed-up-vps-config-php-xcache/ all the xcache.size settings etc if placed in etc/php5/cgi/php.ini aren't sticking even after server reboots???
After using phpinfo you can see the settings in the xcache.ini (/etc/php/conf.d) are actually the ones being used - have you or more likely we missed some link between these two different xcache settings areas?

By the way, is there a way to know if Xcache is really working?
Posted 2 years ago # -
It looks there's an admin with Xcache. Has anybody ever used it?

Here it is: http://xcache.lighttpd.net/demo/

nice, Rogerio, thank you, will take a look .. am playing with Xcache at the moment for all 4 fastCGI distros as shown in the benchmark test and will use this tool.
will be laying out the xcache install guide very shortly which will update the existing method I'm using in the fastCGI tutorial, as well as work for the other fastCGI options.
(off the back of that, will be looking at Memcached (for different sort of caching) and APC (xcache equivalent) as I said in other post)

Guv, I use Memcache and it is really different to Xcaceh. APC and e-accelerator are inferior alternatives to Memcache and Xcache.
It's never enough to tell how we appreciate what you have done. Please, if you need some volunteers to testing or any other thing, just tell me.

There's an xcache section on the phpinfo() page, is this what you're looking for?

there is an admin page you can setup.
http://xcache.lighttpd.net/wiki/InstallAdministration
but i'm currently having a hell of time getting it to even load up.

"By the way, is there a way to know if Xcache is really working?"
..yes, add somepage.php, insert within <?php phpinfo();?> and look for the section you mention ..
"There's an xcache section on the phpinfo() page, is this what you're looking for? "

I think he wanted (I do) a way (a script) to test the real thing. Sometimes things are listed on phpinfo however they are not working actually...

You will laugh about it but are talking about the "BBC - Radio Scotland - Adventures On The M8"? :-)

People, all the details wee need to set up the Xcache admin and to make tests: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/opensource/library/os-php-fastapps1/index.html although it is for MacOSX the details are equal to other systems.

Why we never look at the official site first??? Everything we need is here: http://xcache.lighttpd.net/wiki/InstallAdministration
